Breeding Strategy

A good breeding strategy has pre-determined goals with anticipated progress measures and Otter Peaks Alpacas embraces these. We strive for structurally and physiologically sound alpacas with commercially valuable fiber. We select breeding pairs based on complementing geno-and phenotypes, focusing on our desired outcomes. Our approach is grounded on sequential improvements for selected traits over time. Selection of herdsires emphasizes strength of progeny with regards to our ultimate goals. As clients we will work with you to ensure that your program is sound, reasonable and with achievable goals.
