Otter Peaks Alpacas exists to board, breed and birth Alpacas in the Central Virginia region. We believe in providing our clients with fine alpacas, special services, and superb products from both the domestic and international markets. Our development has been careful and focused through working with experts including successful alpaca breeders, farmers, veterinarians, and building contractors. Our goal is to raise fine alpacas with sound conformation and fabulous fleece. Along with this we provide selected services to the alpaca industry that aid breeders along with educational opportunities that will help all our clients and those that want to know more about alpacas.
The Story of Our Farm

The Otter Peaks Alpaca LLC farm was designed from the ground up starting in 2008. Although we had been raising alpacas in New York State, our Virginia farm is our own creation. The barn, porches and fencing designs integrated the best ideas from our travels to many alpaca farms. As a result we have multiple pastures and shelters that allow us to practice summer and winter rotational grazing. We also have an indoor birthing area and a pasture set aside exclusively for maternity and nursery use.
By choice we limit the number of alpacas at OPA to fewer than 25 to enable us to maintain sustainable pastures of Orchard grass and to practice rotational grazing. The number also gives us an opportunity to extend a more personal touch and give each alpaca more individual attention-something we believe is very important.
